Observation and Reflection from a Typhoon

"Observation and Reflection from a Typhoon"

It is unforgettable that at the end of July, typhoon signal No 10 was hoisted in Hong Kong, the last time was happened in 13 years ago. The Typhoon Vicente was battered the city, gale-force winds toppled many trees, and hundreds of passengers had to spend the night on trains or in station halls because the a tree fell on an overhead power cable near the Tai Po Market station at about 11:30pm, shortly after the Honk Kong Observatory issued the No 9 storm signal. Some commuters criticized the rail operator for not arranging buses to take them to their destinations and they complain that railway staff did not tell them when services could be resumed. Under the poor weather, I think stay in the train or station is the safest arrangement for passengers, even the railway staff let the commuters leave the station, they still cannot be able to the destination since the bus service was stopped. And also the staff had paid HK$200 to several angry passengers to take taxis. The commuters should not be too selfish as they have to sympathize that the difficult of staff because they still have to work. I am very glad that when Vicente came to Hong Kong, I was stay at home and enjoy my homework J

Cooking, Food and Love

Cooking, Food and Love
Food is important to people, because food is an essential element of life-sustaining. And each country has their own food culture, for example curry is the main food of Indian, Thai people, they may contain meat, poultry, fish, or shellfish, either alone or in combination with vegetables. Food is also essential to me, I like going around with friends to find some famous restaurant, we enjoy foods no matter it is sweet, sour, spicy, bitter. I remember once when we went to a restaurant in Cheung Chau, the restaurant was not open, we were totally disappointed, but we did not give up, we waited for an afternoon and finally the restaurant is open. The waiter told us the reason that the restaurant not open at afternoon is they need time to prepare the ingredients. So, I am glad that I did not leave but wait for an afternoon. It sounds like I am crazy, but I think it is an attitude, a respect, because I will be happy by eating some delicious food and if the cook watch our emotion when we are eating, I think they will be satisfy too. Also, the food can deliver the cook’s patient, effort, love, so we have to respect the food by enjoy it. Once, when I cooked a birthday cake to my mother, I expect that she will be surprise and happy, but the reaction was: the cake taste very bad, where did you buy from? I was fully unhappy, and I realize that even the food is taste bad, we cannot waste the cook’s effort.

My Learning Experience - Joy and Challenges

My Learning Experience - Joy and Challenges

When I was in F.3, I don’t know what is DSE , and the school hold a talk – What DSE actually is. Candidates have to take four core subjects: Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and Liberal Studies, plus two or three elective subject in the HKDSE. And I release that I have to pay more effort in the few year. First, is to find out my deficiency. Everyone will have their weakness including me, my weakness is Maths , I think it is because my logical thinking is weak . So I try to do more exercise and do more revision at my spare time . If I have any difficulty , I will ask my Maths teacher after lesson . Life is short , I know I have to catch time to learn more things. And I have two elective subjects – Economics and Tourism and Hospitality Studies. These two subject are new to me because I didn’t learn it before . So I have after school tutorial on Economics . The teacher in Cram School will explain the concepts once to us and give us the past paper to do. The way will be very tough , but I will try my best to keep walking. In the three years of senior secondary education , we will have many experience , some are enjoyable like the activities in Other Learning Experience - African Drum Session , some are tough like the School-based Assessment . We still working on the English Language School-based Assessment ,it is book report or film review . We only have a few month , but it doesn’t mean that we don’t have time to prepare . I will catch up the time to do the revision , the homework , the practice paper that my teacher give me . I know it is too late and I won’t give up because it is the final chance to decide the future road – university or work . The student life is come to the end . I have learned many subject and it will be useful when I go out to work . Study maybe a hard work for students , but for me , I enjoyed the joy from it .And now, say hello to my Maths book and goodbye my dear blog , I have to work hard !

“My First Encounter with African Culture - Music and Dance"

“My First Encounter with African Culture - Music and Dance"

Hi, this is my first time use blog and I still have to learn more about how to use. After my school exam , I have a chance to learn how to play Africa Drum. Before the activity start , I have search the information about Africa Drum. Africa Drum have another name called “Djembe” , it is a rope-tuned skin-covered drum played with bare hands, the name of the djembe comes from the saying "Anke djé, anke bé" which translates to "everyone gather together in peace" and defines the drum's purpose. The drum is very loud, allowing it to be heard clearly as a solo instrument over a large percussion ensemble. When the workshop start, there were an African teacher teach some rhythm and let us follow him, but I still can not follow the beat L. After practise , I can play the drum fluently. And then the teacher let us to combine some dance into the music and invite some classmates to perform , I really enjoy the classmates ’s talent show haha. I hope we can have more activities to join but sadly we have DSE on next year.
